Someone had once said that time healed all wounds. Whoever had said that was full of shit. The pain never went away. The emptiness left behind could never be filled. The longing never died out. The deep ache never dulled. You simply got used to it. You simply learned to survive – to keep going. You learned to live with it, but it never went away. It never healed – maybe scabbed over, but never healed.
